Mountain Home Music's 30th Anniversary Exhibit at the Jones House

30 years of Joe Shannon's Mountain Home Music

The Special Collections Research Center is partnering with Mountain Home Music on an exhibit during the month of August at the Mazie Jones Gallery to honor Mountain Home Music's 30th anniversary! The exhibit will feature items from the organization’s rich history of celebrating the diverse styles of Appalachian culture in the High Country, including digitized video content from the Mountain Home Music, Inc. Collection.

The opening reception at the Jones House Cultural Center is on August 2nd, from 5 – 7 PM. The Summer Concert will begin at 5:30pm, featuring the Boone Trail Band and The Dollar Brothers. The exhibit will be on display Monday – Friday, 10 AM to 5 PM, Saturday and Sunday, 11 AM to 4 PM during the month of August.

Mountain Home Music was established in 1994 by Joe Shannon and is focused on building community through a variety of performances and events. Since Joe's passing, the organization has continued its mission of honoring the musicians, dancers, storytellers, and poets of the Appalachian region.
