Earlier this month, the University Archives accepted two donations: one from alumnus Dr. Donald Secreast, and the other from the Department of Athletics. We are thankful for these individuals who contacted us, and we were delighted to add these items to our collection.
Dr. Donald Secreast, Class of 1972, donated a scrapbook of articles that he wrote for The Appalachian student newspaper while he was a student. Secreast continued writing as his career as an author and higher education professor, most recently in the Department of English at Radford University. To learn more about Dr. Secreast, read his 1996 interview with Tal Stanley in the Appalachian Journal, Volume 24, No. 1, pages 52–72, or check out his writing or hear him speak about writing in our collections.

The Department of Athletics donated materials related to the 2006 and 2007 Football Championship wins, including team photos, official proclamations from the Town of Blowing Rock honoring the wins, and resolutions from the North Carolina General Assembly honoring the division wins, key players, coaches, and past coaches. Many thanks go to Crista Bain, Athletics Administrative Support Specialist, who reached out to us to facilitate the donation.

These materials will be available for use within the near future! We are grateful to our alumni and campus departments who recognize the historical importance of their materials.
